O holy night! The stars are brightly shining!
It was just another night. People slept, ate, walked, talked. Life happened.
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth.
But something’s different. A baby who isn’t your run-of-the-mill child has arrived.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining, ‘til He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
Finally, mere people could feel just how much they were worth to God. They weren’t just pawns on earth for Him to play with, to ignore or to injure at His whims. That was all a lie.
A thrill of hope! The weary world rejoices for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
At last, hope is fulfilled. Prayers for a deliverer are answered. And a new day dawns. A dawning of promise.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices! O night divine . . .
Just another night, but now it’s divine? How? What changes the normal to the divine?
O night when Christ was born.
A birth made this night divine.
And that birth makes our lives divine, because the Christ, the Anointed One, in born in us and lives in us. We are in Jesus and He is in us. All we need to do is allow Him access to our lives.
Had He not come to that manger and made that night divine, we would still be stumbling around in the dark, slaves to the lies and the darkness.
Christ is the Lord; oh, praise His name forever,
His power and glory evermore proclaim.
O night divine, O night when Christ was born.
O night divine, O night . . . O night divine
