I’ve mentioned this well-loved devotional book (The Divine Romance) before. Taken from the Song of Solomon, virtually every day has a new teaching about the love of God.

This can be a hard topic for abuse survivors to accept. All sorts of questions arise, like

if God loves me, why did this happen?
How can He love me after all I’ve been through?
Why can’t I feel His love? Why can’t I feel any kind of love?

And the biggest question remains: What’s wrong with me?

Been there. Many years

My memoir, My Personal Holocaust, details my struggle with accepting and receiving God’s love. It took years of counseling and letting Him heal the memories before His love could consistently get through. The little ones who guarded those horrific memories didn’t trust Him. They had never been taught about His love. All they knew were lies and pain and despair.

But I persisted. God and my counselors never gave up on me. And now I am exposing the darkness in accordance with Ephesians 5:11. It says to have nothing to do with the works of darkness, but to expose them.
