Waiting . . . and waiting

Have you ever seen a bumper sticker that said, “Lord, give me patience. And I want it now!”
The point is that we seem to want all of our needs, wants, and desires fulfilled right away. I’ve heard we live in a microwave society. Such a picture of our attitudes!
Have you ever found yourself waiting interminably for something? Did someone tell you that God’s timing is perfect, just be patient? Keep praying and seeking until the answer comes? He sometimes answers, “no”?
I really hate pat answers. No one is the same as you, so why should God answer you in the same way as He does for others?
I waited many, many years for my healing. Only rarely could I catch a glimpse of progress. It was then that I had to ask friends or even my counselor if they noticed change occurring. And invariably, they answered in the affirmative.
Being too close to the situation causes “tunnel vision.” We often can’t see what is right in front of us, even if it is what we are working toward.
God sees our struggle. He wants to heal. He also wants the healing to stick.
So, in this very complicated situation called Life, we contine to ask and seek. And we look for the tiny improvements that encourage us. They are there.
And they are good.
